A notary acts as official, unbiased witness to the identity and signature of a person who appears before the notary for an oath or affirmation, or to sign a document. The notary’s signature indicates that the notary verified the identity of the person who appeared and willingly signed, executed, or acknowledged the document.
Because we are not Authorized Certifying Officers, we cannot notarize certain financial documents, such as savings bonds. We also cannot notarize the following: military IDs, real estate transactions, Visa and immigration paperwork, documents from foreign governments, vital records, including birth, death, marriage, or divorce certificates, and citizenship or naturalization certificates, certified copies of identification, and I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification forms.
